Some call it the coffee day while others call it National Coffee Day. No matter what you call it, it’s coming, and we’re so excited! This year National Coffee Day is on Saturday, September the 29th and several businesses are participating in the festivities.
Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts, Cinnabon and 7-Eleven are just a few of the companies that are handing out goodies on that day. Make sure you head over to your favorite java place and take advantage.
One of the most common questions I hear about coffee is whether or not it’s healthy. We wanted to know the facts, so we did some research. Studies show that coffee drinkers live longer and have better health than those that don’t drink coffee. Coffee is loaded with antioxidants.
Antioxidants are a natural way to protect your body from free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that are generated by sun exposure, stress and as part of the natural aging process. Some of the studies we found during our search shocked us.
Coffee is known to protect against Parkinson’s disease, type 2 diabetes, and liver disease. Coffee has been known to decrease the risk of depression, and it also improves cognitive function.
One of the only adverse effects we found was that consumption of more than 2 cups per day could potentially increase the risk of heart disease in some people. Everything in moderation, friends.
So, now that you know about Coffee Day, how will you be celebrating? We have some ideas that you might like. Now, this may sound strange to some people, but one thing you can do with coffee is scrub your body with it! Yes, it’s true! Coffee grounds are a mechanical exfoliant.
The coffee grounds can be used to scrub off the dead skin from your body and reveal the beautiful skin underneath. Why would you use coffee instead of your regular exfoliant? It is because the chemical exfoliants remove skin cells and have acidic properties.
So, grab some coffee grounds, about a 1/2 cup, a heaped spoonful of cinnamon, a little sugar, vanilla, and coconut oil and start exfoliating! If you’re not into adding it to your beauty regimen, perhaps you could try cooking with it.
My Grandmother used to replace the water in her cake recipes with coffee. Trust me when I say this, it’s incredible! So rich and delicious! If you’re not into adding it to a cake, you could add some delightful twists to your morning cup of joe.
A sprinkle of cinnamon will add some warmth this fall season. Cinnamon is heart healthy and can lower blood sugar levels. Cinnamon can reduce heart disease and has a plethora of other health benefits. So sprinkle some on top and feel good about it. If you’re not a cinnamon fan, you can also add lemon, lime, coconut milk, or butter.
That’s right, everyone. I said butter. To try this, you’ll need coffee beans, coconut oil, and grass-fed butter. Butter coffee is a flavorful coffee that is filling, delicious and when made correctly, it has a light and fluffy foam on the top that will leave you wanting more.
Now that we’ve opened your mind to some delicious alternatives to try this year, you can gather your favorite people together and celebrate one of best drinks on this planet! Happy Coffee Day, friends!
